Problems identified

  1. Stimulate milk production by using BGH (bovine growth hormone) – banned in some countries.

    1. 50-70% increase in mastitis – requires antibiotics.

  2. Milk can contain 1-1.5 million white blood cells (pus) per milliliter.

  3. Studies find sulfa and antibiotics in milk in 10 cities 38% (1989), 20% (1990), 51% (FDA)

    1. FDA disk-assay test detects only 2 of 30 drugs in milk, Charm II test down to 5ppb

    2. France study shows penicillin in 4 to 7 milkings after use.

  4. Cows milk allergens can show up in mothers milk from her drinking cows milk.

  5. Cows milk is low in iron and should not be given to children under age 1.

  6. Finland – diabetic children had higher levels of serum antibodies to cows milk.

  7. Finland - “world's highest rate of dairy product consumption and the world's highest rate of insulin dependent diabetes.” 40 children/1000. 6-8 children/1,000 in US

  8. More than 100 distinct antigens are released by digestion of cows' milk.

  9. Strong correlation between drinking 2+ glasses of milk to developing a lymphoma.

  10. Ovarian, lung, prostate cancers shows correlation with drinking more milk.

  11. Milk is not a good source of calcium

  12. Lactose intolerance is a problem for a large portion of the population.


Raw Milk problems

  1. UCLA study (1980-83) showed that over a third of all cases of salmonella traced to raw milk.

  2. Salmonella, E. coli and Staphylococcal infections can be traced to milk.

  3. Bovine leukema virus is found in 3/5 of dairy herds – killed by pasteuration.

  4. Randomly collected raw milk samples found bovine leukemia virus in 2/3.

  5. The United States is the worst in the world for bovine leukemia virus (after Venezuela)

  6. Bovine leukemia can cause human leukemia.
